Sometimes I wonder why I stopped blogging. I think I got a phone and facebook and instagram and stopped using my laptop on a regular basis. All I know is the boys really miss the blog and will sometimes get on the old blog and read up on all the things they used to do when they were "little". I wish I would have kept writing and documenting all the little things they say and do and they changes we have made in our family as time marches on.
Maddeck: He is 10 years old and so wise for his age in many areas. He has health issues right now that we are trying to figure out. He has been to the ER and Children's Hospital to work towards finding a cause for his stomache aches, headaches, and numbness in his body. So far the diagnosis is migranes. His most recent episode was last week on our way to Oregon for our beach vacation. He pushed through for about 24 hours and then felt better for the rest of the trip. Most of the time he feels well and he is such a joy and leader in our family. His brothers look up to him and he is responsible enough to be in charge if I leave the house for small amounts of time now.
Evan: He is 7 1/2 years old. He is bright and energetic. He loves baseball but we have never signed him up to play on a team. He has an explosion of freckles on his face from the summer sun right now. Evan is seriously good at math and gifted at athletics. He is timid to try new things but we he does, watch out! Most recently, the mat racers at Slidewaters. He was so scared to try them but once he did he loved it and beat Maddeck every time.
Miles: He is 6 years old. He gave his life to Jesus this year and we have seen the power of the Holy Spirit temper him. He is a bundle of energy and fights to keep up to speed with his brothers. He challenges me everyday with his impulsive actions. He is a funny little dude. Most recently, "hey mom, you know that crack that you see on a woman's chest? Does it go alllll the way down and around to their bottom?" Good question son. He is the sweetest little one and is always quick to compliment and encourage.
Kyle: He just turned 35 and I threw him a surprise dance party. It was super fun. He is now a CPA and just finished his second year with Clifton Larson Allen. He loves his job but man, oh man, is tax season a killer for our family. We survive but it is seriously now fun.
Me: I am 36. I am just finishing up three months as the Grace Kids Director covering a maternity leave. Next month I will begin a second job, in addition to bookkeeping for Grace City Church, as Chris and Josh' assistant. I am nervous for the additional work load as I often feel at capacity with three busy and HUNGRY all the time little boys. Once school starts I will be working from 8-2:30 Monday through Thursday. I don't like the feeling of being tied down to a schedule like that but it will provide for the boys to attend The River Academy this coming school year.
God: Our God is at work in our family. I can't believe all of our boys have a saving faith at such a young age. I see the work of the Holy Spirit in each of their lives daily. Today we saw a semi truck rolled over on the side of the road. Maddeck asked if we could pray so I turned off the radio and he prayed earnestly for the driver of the truck to be okay and get to the hospital quickly. I see the fruit of Jesus all the time in them and I am eternally grateful. There is nothing better than knowing the love of Jesus. Nothing. We have an awesome gospel community and Kyle is officiating his second wedding this Saturday for Joe and Jena Gwinn.
Family: The Metzlers are moving to Wenatchee!
We celebrate our 15 year anniversary in less than one month!
